Don Abbott developed the tabletop city over 16 years ago. In
1992, Don was named Innovator of the Year by the ISFSI for
his work with the simulator. Don is now working full-time on
projects for the Phoenix AZ FD.

The Command School TTX "Abbottville" simulator consists of
over 400 buildings and can be modified to adapt to specific
Customer requests … the tabletop landscapes range from
suburban, rural, industrial, urban, high rise buildings, airports
or special hazard environments. Our facilitators make the
events as real to life as possible. Realistic fire and smoke are
employed. Emergency equipment is dispatched. Radios are
used for realistic communication. Scale model apparatus, police
cars, ambulances, emergency personnel, hose, and other
types of props are used. This is as real as it gets! Actual incidents
are used as the basis for most of the scenarios. Scenarios
can run as short as 40 minutes and as long as 8 hours.

Command School TTX has employed the unique tabletop simulator
in exercises and training for fire and rescue, law enforcement
and EMS departments around the country to
practice tactics and Incident Command. It is often used by
local LEPC’s and by state and county Emergency Management
Agencies who are required to hold annual drills, and who
wish to provide practice for the local emergency responders
in Unified Command and EOC operations. Commercial companies
such as chemical producers, refineries and large corporations
use the table-top allow their Emergency Response
Teams, and facility directors to practice their in-house emergency
response plans, and to practice Unified Command with
surrounding fire and police departments.
